"Lives of
Meaning"

Deafblind Services Society of British Columbia

For hearing and sighted people, knowing where you are, understanding what is going on around you, knowing who is with you, communicating with other people, making decisions and getting around are all taken for granted. Deafblind people need specialized services to do all these everyday things

At Deafblind Services we believe that every person who is Deafblind should have access to the world around them, and our goal is to do whatever we can to provide that access. With supported communication - individuals who are deafblind can increase their independence and safely access the world around them.

A not-for-profit organization, for over 24 years we have been providing safe and comfortable residential environments, and community access programs, that enable individuals who are deafblind throughout the province to live more independently. Inspired by the spirit and determination of the people we support, we are committed to delivering the quality services that promote respect and inclusion. We are an accredited organization, which adheres to very high standards of care.

Thank you for visiting our website and finding out more about what we do and the fascinating people we serve.

"Once I knew only darkness and stillness….my life was without past or future….but a little word from the fingers of another fell into my hand that clutched at emptiness and my  heart leaped to the rapture of living."
Helen Keller
